Stirling Albion new boy Eddie Ferns was delighted to have joined the club after signing on at Forthbank last week.
The attacker arrives at Forthbank having been freed by bitter rivals Alloa Athletic following their relegation from the Championship.
The 25-year-old revealed he turned down other offers to move to the Albion, and says he has no fears about crossing the Wasps/Binos divide.
Ferns told Stirling News Sport: “It’s good to get everything sorted out so quickly rather than letting it drag on. I’m glad it’s all done and dusted, and now I can look forward to coming back and getting into pre-season.
“It’s not a rivalry like Celtic and Rangers although some of the fans might disagree! I might get a few people calling me Judas, but I will take it.
“My agent phoned me and told me there were a few offers in for me. I went up to see the club and they have a good setup. The gaffer and his assistant both seemed like good, honest guys so it made sense to sign on.”
Ferns was on loan at Albion Rovers in their side which won promotion from League Two in 2015, and now he is aiming to repeat the feat with the Binos.
He said: “I was at Albion Rovers when they won the league so I know what it takes to do well at this level. It is a good standard of football. I am keen to show people what I can do again. The gaffer was saying that he is wanting to win the league and get promoted. My pal plays at Queen’s Park and they have just gone up, and if they can do it there is no reason why we can’t. I’ve won that league before so hopefully I can go and do it again.”
The winger is hoping a successful season can help him prove that Alloa manager Jack Ross was wrong to let him go, but believes the disappointment will help him become a better player.
Ferns said: “Obviously I am going to have a point to prove. We might get them in the League Cup section in the summer, so if we play against them I will be wanting to do well. I want to prove Jack Ross wrong and show that I am good enough for Alloa. I was disappointed to be released but these things happen in football and I will take it on the chin and come back better and stronger from it.”
