STIRLING’S newest music festival is on the move as Forthside re-locates to Whins of Milton.
Hundreds of fans have already snapped up tickets for the two-day event, set to take place on May 3-4.
More than 50 artists are already on the bill, including Stevie McCrorie, Mark Morriss, Pete MacLeod, Robbie Hutton, Dixie Fried, the Coaltown Daises, Katee Kross & the Amberjax and Bad Boogaloo.
Crowds had been due to gather at Broadley’s Farm, near Spingkerse, but the site was deemed unable to safely handle the traffic demands.
As a result, the inaugural Forthside Festival will take place at Haugh Field, just off Glasgow Road, in the land near to Home Bargains.
James Lafferty, one of the organisers of the festival, said there has already been a hugely positive response to the news.
He said: “It’s been really something. Ever since we decided to put on Forthside, we have had nothing but full-blooded support from the community and the wider music scene.
“There is such a hunger for a festival like this and that’s been obvious to us from day one.
“Even now, after we’ve had to change the venue, we’re backed to the hilt – and we can’t thank the Forthsiders enough.”
The decision to move the event was made following discussions with emergency services on the access roads around the previous site.
Efforts were made to salvage the original plan for Broadley’s Farm, but in the end, organisers felt the move was necessary.
James added: “We realise it’s a bit of an inconvenience, but the move brings us a number of positives.
“We’re now situated in Whins of Milton and the site has some of the best views in the whole of Stirling. Hamish Muirhead at Haugh Fields has been terrific to work with.
“It has that little bit more; there is better access to the site; and a little more space for the arena itself.
“There is also some on-site car parking now and we’ve arranged a shuttle bus between the site and Stirling Town Centre.
“All in all, moving Forthside will make a massive difference to those coming along. We can’t wait to see you all there.”
Organisers recently announced the addition of the Subliminal Dance Tent to the line-up Festival, hosted by Stirling DJ John Devlin.
The second stage, in association with the Linden Inn, also features performances from Uniforms, Black Dove, Bullets and Arrows, The Bell Jar, The Beat Movement and The Ruvellas.
In addition to the musical talent, Forthside comes complete with an array of vendors with a selection of local food and a choice of bars.
