STIRLING singer Robbie Hutton has returned with an epic new single, taking listeners on a journey through a “war of love”.
Robbie unveiled Battlefield today (Friday, May 24) as the follow-up to Waves, which he released at the beginning of March.
His latest effort is a bittersweet story of two lovers at war – with the verses taking the listener on a journey of their struggle.
The single is accompanied by a moody video where the visualisation of the lovers’ quarrel becomes all too real.
The 25-year-old has also lined up a series of gigs in Glasgow over the summer, beginning with a show at King Tut’s on Friday, May 31.
Robbie said: “I am really proud of this track; I wanted to do something that a grander feel to it, and I’m delighted with how it turned out.
“Some songs hint at real stories with the odd lyric or are entirely thematic. I wanted to lay out an entire tale for the listener and take them through this couple’s story – this war of love – piece by piece.
“The first verse sets the scene of battle; and the second all about the fight itself. The third verse is the bloody aftermath, with the couple rejoicing in the last chorus.
“For me, it is a bit of insight into tainted romance. I hope it resonates with lots of people and gives them goosebumps.
“That’s the feel we really wanted to try and capture with the video as well and the actors were terrific – it all comes together beautifully.”
After recording the track at Rocket Science Studios, Robbie took to Ayrshire once again to shoot the video with Shootback Productions.
Battlefield was filmed under the haunting gaze of Dunure Castle and stars actors Adam Greene and Emma Findlay as the two lovers.
Robbie added: “It’s been such a good year for me so far – seeing the fruits of so much hard work come to life is a thrill.
“First Waves and now Battlefield, but there’s so much more to come and I hope to have another release out in the near future.
“I’ve also got a handful of gigs coming up in Glasgow and I’m hoping to get myself out across central Scotland, Fife and Perthshire soon too.
“I’m grateful for the support I have had, and I can’t wait to see what people think of the new song.”
