A WOMAN stole more than £8000 from a man’s home in Alloa during a short-lived relationship with him.
Kay Mason, 31, of McLaren Terrace, Stirling, appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court last Thursday.
She admitted that on May 5, at Whins Road, Alloa, she stole a quantity of cash.
The court was told the man had withdrawn thousands in cash and was keeping it in his home hidden under a kitchen worktop.
Mason had been in a brief relationship with him at the time and had been staying nights there.
Depute fiscal Susannah Hutchison added that the figure the complainer said had been stolen was £8550.
Around £4000 was recovered from Mason’s purse by police, but the remainder has never been found.
Defence solicitor Kelly Howe said her client has “quite significant mental health issues”.
Sheriff Neil Bowie said there was “clearly no prospect of the money being re-paid”.
He then imposed a 100-day restriction of liberty order.
