FUNK fans can look forward to Art Terry & the Black Bohemians making a grand return to Stirling’s Tolbooth this month.
Playing on Saturday, February 18, the group will bring their punk playfulness and skilfully orchestrated funk sound to the city, alongside dates in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Fronted by Art Terry, the band makes music they describe as experimental gospel meeting hauntological funk.
Featuring a host of material from their back catalogue, the band will give fans a glimpse of their upcoming single Digital Dictator, out on February 24.
Terry said: “We are really looking forward to returning to Scotland and taking to the stage in Stirling to further explore the art we created during lockdown.
“These will be really intimate gigs, making them even more special, and we can’t wait to connect with audiences and get them dancing and relishing in the musicianship.”
The band also announced that preceding each performance will be a screening of the Self Isolation Songbook, a half hour film made by Helena Smith throughout lockdown.
The film features Terry performing a song a day for 52 days as he fights against self-isolation. The band will interpret these songs live in their gig, addressing themes of comedy, anxiety and philosophy.
Art Terry & the Black Bohemians will also play Stereo in Glasgow on February 16 and in Summerhall, Edinburgh on February 17.
Tickets can be bought from https://www.artterry.co.uk/ and cost £10.
