A FUNDRAISING gala is set to take place this month in support of Strathcarron Hospice with Gordon Cree as the guest star.
The Strathcarron Singers will be hosting the highlight of their musical year when the annual Gala Spring Concert goes ahead at the Albert Halls in Stirling.
Under the baton of musical director Matthew Brown, the singers will be on stage on Sunday, May 21, from 2.30pm.
The concert will feature the Big Noise Raploch Symphonic Band, conducted by Jo Ashcroft, and topping the bill as star guest will be Scotland's foremost award-winning musical entertainer, Gordon Cree.
A graduate of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, Gordon has enjoyed a stellar career over two decades as an entertainer, musician, speaker, magician, orchestrator and guest conductor for orchestras across the world.
As a variety and cabaret artiste, he has appeared internationally in concert, pantomime and summer season, topping the bill at the Blackpool Winter Gardens and performing to great acclaim in New York’s Stardust Room and at the renowned City Varieties Music Hall in Leeds.
There will be a wide range of music and song at the gala concert in the 19th year of Strathcarron Singers.
They formed as a choir in 2004 to raise funds for the hospice and have since given more than 70 performances across central Scotland, raising in excess of £155,000.
Supporting this year's effort will be the Big Noise Raploch Symphonic Band, which was started in 2008 by the Sistema Scotland charity, aiming to bring music to young people who might otherwise not have the opportunity.
Admission to the concert will be free and there is no need to book with people urged to simply turn up.
There will be an opportunity to donate on the day.
