STIRLING Albion suffered last minute heartache on Tuesday night as a late Brian Cameron penalty earned Elgin City a 2-1 win in their crucial League Two clash.
The defeat at Borough Briggs was a tough one to take for Binos, who now trail the league leaders by 10 points, as it all but ended their own title aspirations strengthened the Highlanders.
Elgin started the better and opened the scoring on 15 minutes when good play from Marc McKenzie sent Craig Gunn racing in on goal to slot home.
The Binos responded well and Ross McGeachie soon headed them level from a set piece to make it 1-1 before the interval.
Stuart McLaren's men looked to be heading for a hard-fought share of the spoils, but in the 93rd minute, Ross Forsyth was penalised for a foul on Kyle Lander in the box and Cameron stepped up to convert the spot kick to seal all three points.
Stirling will have to lift themselves quickly as they prepare for a tricky trip to face in-form Berwick Rangers on the road this weekend.
