OPEN water events, as part of the championships in Glasgow, are kicking off on Loch Lomond tomorrow (Wednesday, August 8).
A total of 21 medals will be contested by 100 swimmers over seven events up to Sunday, August 12, and all free to view with the stunning backdrop of the Trossachs.
There will be 5k, 10k and 25k events as well as a 5k mixed team relay as the swimmers take on the minor tides and currents.
Colin Hartley, championships director, said: “It’s difficult to think of a more idyllic location than Loch Lomond to host the open water competition in the inaugural multi-sport European Championships.
“We’ve seen some fantastic competition across all sports, and I’m confident the open water swimming will only add to what has already been a great few days of world-class sporting action.”
